How to Transfer Your Prescriptions to a New Pharmacy

TRS Pharmacy

A lot of patients stay with a pharmacy they’re unhappy with simply because they assume transferring prescriptions is a hassle. It isn’t. Here’s exactly how it works.

What You’ll Need

Before calling, have these things ready:

  • The name of your current pharmacy and their phone number
  • The name(s) of the prescription(s) you want to transfer
  • Your Rx number(s) if available (printed on your pill bottle)
  • Your date of birth (for verification)

That’s it.

Step 1: Call Your New Pharmacy

Call TRS Pharmacy at 346-230-4148 and let us know you want to transfer your prescriptions. You don’t need to call your old pharmacy — we handle that for you.

Step 2: We Contact Your Old Pharmacy

We call your old pharmacy directly, request the transfer, and confirm your prescription details. Most transfers are completed within a few hours.

Step 3: We Verify Your Insurance

We’ll verify your insurance information when you call. We accept all major plans including Medicare Part D, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and more. (We don’t accept MedImpact.)

No insurance? No problem — we’ll find you the best self-pay price.

Step 4: Pick Up or Get It Delivered

Your prescriptions will be ready for pickup at our Stafford, TX location, or we can deliver them to you:

  • Free delivery within 10 miles of Stafford
  • Free delivery for any order with 3 or more prescriptions
  • $4 delivery fee for 1–2 Rx outside the 10-mile radius

Important Notes

  • Controlled substances (like certain pain medications) typically cannot be transferred by phone. Check with us if you have questions.
  • Out-of-state prescriptions can usually still be transferred — call us to confirm for your specific medication.
  • Specialty medications may require additional steps. Our team can walk you through it.

What Happens to Your Old Pharmacy?

Once a prescription is transferred, your old pharmacy’s record is marked as transferred and they can no longer fill it. However, if you have remaining refills, all of them come with you to TRS.
